2016 was a rough year for us. Losing 74 sweet souls still haunts many of us. I’m very proud of our staff, board, and volunteers for their commitment during our difficult time.
With a lot of hard work and headaches, we have cobbled together a temporary shelter. Our goals for 2017 are to:
1. Continue saving lives and providing a safe haven for the animals that come to us until we can match them with a loving family;
2. Push our fundraising for the new shelter into “over drive” in hopes of starting construction sooner than originally planned;
3. Continue to educate the children and families of our area in an effort to make SE Texas a more compassionate and humane community.
We may be limited in our current facility but we are unlimited in our dedication to a better, brighter future for HSSET. We hope you will continue this journey with us as we work towards building an animal shelter we can all be proud of! Together, we can do this!
