Pet-a-Pawlooza kicked it up last weekend with The Copa Kings at the Beaumont Civic Center. Over 300 people came out to support our new adoption center, have a great time, and share their love for the orphaned animals of our community. They brought in over $81,000 and we couldn’t be more thrilled.
The night kicked off with complimentary Salty Dog cocktails and St. Arnold’s Ale Wagger, generously donated by Del Papa Distributing. Guests mingled while surveying a variety of silent auction items provided by local businesses and individuals. There were items for all tastes, including a luxury pet bed, a high resolution TV, and a 4-person golfing trip!
The Wine Pull, a fantastic wine grab-bag adventure, gave guests a chance to win a $150 bottle of Silver Oak wine while The Regale Beagle bar served drinks to taste for those who wanted to take a little less risk.
Once all the guests had arrived, the crowd moved into the dining room and delighted in the smooth jazz of The (oh so fabulous) Copa Kings. Gulf shrimp and grits, crawfish pies and New Orleans bread pudding with whiskey sauce were just some of the fabulous fares savored by party goers. The sumptuous banquet was lovingly prepared by Bando’s Catering.
HSSET Development Director Monica Lee took the stage discuss our shelter’s mission, our difficulties after the devastating shelter fire, and our range of community programs including adoptions, low cost spays and neuters, foster programs, volunteers, critter camp and more. Guests met Brita, Nugget, Faith, and Ralphie—four ex-shelter pups who are now engaged in community relations, service duties, and just plain ol’ Good Dogs.
Scott Droddy led a lively live auction where guests enthusiastically bid on beach trips, five-star dinners, and one-of-a-kind paintings. We wanted everyone to go home with a prize and feeling great, knowing that their generous bids were going to support a great cause.
