My name is Monica Lee and I have the honor of being this year’s Humane Education Director. The Humane Society’s mission is “dedicated to enriching the lives of pets and people through advocacy, education, and forever homes for our companion animals.” We feel that how we teach our children to treat our companion animals sets the stage for how they will treat other animals, as well as other people and their environment.
It is my hope to reach out to every elementary school in the Golden Triangle area to teach students about responsible pet care and humane treatment of all living things, specifically addressing the root causes of animal abuse, abandonment, and homelessness. Through the teaching of compassion and respect we can impact the lives of not only thousands of children but also a countless number of animals.
Also, starting this year, is our Critter Camp! This exciting one week long camp will teach children about all different kinds of ecosystems, family pets, and working animals through crafts and interactive lesson plans! It is a fun opportunity for your little one to get out of the house, learn new things, and make some new friends (maybe even a furry friend!).
It is thanks to our incredible donors that we are able to reach out to all of the children in the golden triangle area. Through your support we can help shape the lives of not only the homeless dogs and cats in the area but the children of the next generation!
